VICE AIN'T NICE

Seattle, Washington
A violent boyfriend forced his pregnant girlfriend to sign an 'abuse contract' allowing him to beat her whenever he wanted. Under the terms of the contract Graydon Smith,31, was allowed to punch, kick and throttle his 19 year old girlfriend. His only restriction was that he wasn't allowed to punch her stomach.
The bizarre contract was revealed after police arrested him for assaulting his girlfriend at their home in Seattle, Washington. The victim's stepfather had called police when he called at the house and saw Smith throttling his daughter.
Smith admitted to police that he had made his girlfriend, who has not been named, sign the contract giving him free rein to carry out domestic abuse. Seattle police detective Elizabeth Ellis said: 'Graydon made her sign a statement giving him permission to physically abuse her anywhere on her body except on her pregnant belly.'
When police arrested Smith they found his girlfriend with bruises and cuts to her face. She confirmed her boyfriend was responsible for the assault. Unemployed Smith has been charged with assault and harassment. He is being held on $100,000 bond.

Jonesville, Michigan
Bobbie Smith, a 27-year-old Jonesville woman was arraigned Tuesday on charges she bit her sister's nose off during a domestic dispute.
"I love my sister - I was trying to take care of her," said Smith as she bawled in court before Judge James Justin.
According to police, Smith and her sister were in the midst of a heated argument when Smith reportedly bit off about 1/3 of her sister's nose.
Smith told police she was drunk and did it in self defense, although police could find no signs of injury to back up her claim.
Smith's sister, on the other hand, was rushed to Allegiance Health before finally being transferred to the University of Michigan Med Center. Police recovered the missing portion of her nose, but it is not yet known if the piece could be reattached.
Investigators say Smith was extremely combative during her arrest - managing to damage a security partition while in the back seat of the patrol car.
She was booked into jail on charges of assault with intent to do great bodily harm, aggravated domestic violence, resisting arrest, malicious destruction of property and mayhem.

Young Liars Grow Up to Be Great Leaders

A team of Canadian academics have found that the more plausible the lie, the more quick-witted they will be in later years and the better their abiliy to think on their feet.

"Parents should not be alarmed if their child tells a fib," said Dr Kang Lee, director of the Institute of Child Study at Toronto University who carried out the research. "Almost all children lie. Those who have better cognitive development lie better because they can cover up their tracks. They may make bankers in later life."

Lying involves multiple brain processes, such as integrating sources of information and manipulating the data to their advantage. It is linked to the development of brain regions that allow executive functioning and use higher order thinking and reasoning.

Dr Lee and his team tested 1,200 children aged two to 16 years old. They found at the age of two, 20 per cent of children will lie. This rises to 50 per cent by three and almost 90 per cent at four. The most deceitful age, they discovered, was 12, when almost every child tells lies.

Researchers say there is no link between telling fibs in childhood and any tendency to cheat in exams or to become a fraudster later in life.

Boy, 4, survives 80ft fall from balcony

A four-year-old boy had a miracle escape after he fell 80ft from a hotel balcony - and escaped with minor injuries after bouncing off a palm tree.

Rescuers found Joey Williams alive after he skimmed off the branches of a cluster of palm trees and landed in a soil border next to the hotel's swimming pool.

The lucky toddler also managed to miss two metal pipes jutting up on either side of the spot where he hit the ground.

Less than four hours after his death-defying fall from the 17th floor of an apartment block in Miami, Florida, he was sitting up in bed eating French fries and drinking a milk shake.

A precautionary neck brace and a bandage on his right hand were all he had to show for his incredible ordeal.

Lt. Ignatius Carroll, a spokesman for Miami Fire Rescue, said he was astonished the boy had survived the fall.

'It's amazing that he's alive,' he said. 'He looked to be in pretty good shape. We thought he might have internal injuries. But he's fine.'

Joey was with his parents and grandparents at the Doubletree hotel in Miami when the incident occurred on Saturday.

His grandfather Jerry Unawich said the youngster had been playing with a balloon when it drifted out on to the balcony.
He had chased after it and managed to climb over a guardrail as he tried to grab it.
He fell from the 17th floor of the building to the 10th - where there is a pool area for local residents.

Mr Unawich added: "there are no broken bones and doctors told us everything is fine. No bleeding internally. We were truly blessed that God was there with him."

Naked "Jesus" Causes 5 Vehicle Pile-up in Connecticut

A naked man "yelling that he was Jesus" was the catalyst for a five-vehicle accident on I-95 Northbound near exit 16 early Saturday morning that injured three people, mangled a tandem tractor-trailer truck and slowed traffic to a crawl for nearly six hours, according to Darien Police Sgt. Jeremiah P. Marron Jr.

Marron said Darien Police responded to a call regarding a nude male causing a disturbance on I-95 north at exit 14. When police arrived, they saw the man hop into a silver car. With assistance from Norwalk and State Police, Darien officers were able to pull the car over near exit 16.

While police were responding at the scene, a distracted driver apparently stopped short near exit 16 to get a better view of the incident, causing the tractor-trailer to slam its brakes, jackknife and careen into four cars before flipping over, police said.

The tractor-trailer struck a tree and turned over on its side, according to Norwalk Fire Department Deputy Chief Dave Lepus.

Norwalk and Westport firefighters responded to the accident at approximately 5:30 a.m. and began what would become a three-hour extrication process to get the driver safely out of the tractor-trailer truck.

"It was a tough extrication," Lepus said. "It took two crews to rescue him and a lot of time to get him out."

The driver's legs, arms, hand and head were pinned in the doomed vehicle, according to Lepus.

"He couldn't have done much worse but somehow he managed to stay in the void (of the truck's cab) and stay alive," he said.

Westport Assistant Fire Chief Robert Yost said the firefighters used "almost every tool" to gain access to the driver. For a while, the firefighters were only able to see the victim's elbow.

Paramedics were eventually able to crawl into the cab of the truck and begin treating the driver.

Truck wreckers assisted in lifting the wrecked tractor-trailer so that emergency crews could start treating the driver, according to Yost.

Lepus said the victim was speaking when emergency crews pulled him from the vehicle but the extent of the man's injuries is unknown. EMS trauma officials drove the victim to Norwalk Hospital.

Diesel fuel leaked from one of the tractor-trailer's ruptured fuel tanks and fire crews had to clean the fuel spill.

A road sign that was struck by the tractor-trailer fell on a Darien Police cruiser at the scene.

The accident completely closed I-95 North from exit 14 to exit 16. Two lanes on the stretch of highway were opened shortly after 11 a.m. but the right lane remained closed. All lanes of traffic were opened at noon.

Woman shot for allegedly cheating during "friendly" card game

For a 51-year-old Chicago preacher, Patricia Clark was a pretty sharp poker player.

Maybe too sharp, the woman accused of shooting her apparently thought.

After accusing Clark, of the 1300 block of West 108th Place, of cheating her and three other gamblers out of an $800 pot, the alleged killer shot Clark in the back Thursday night, Clark's family and police say.

Two days after what was supposed to be a friendly game of cards at a pal's home, Clark succumbed to her wounds Saturday night at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn.

Rosie Morris, 46, of the 9300 block of South Ridgeland, was charged with murdering Clark, according to police.

Clark's grieving husband, James Clark, said she "didn't cheat and didn't need to cheat, she's just very good at cards."

His wife -- who preached at several South Side churches and had recently started a business selling candy -- was invited to the home in the 9300 block of South Ridgeland on Thursday to collect an outstanding gambling debt of $300 from an "old friend of 20 years," James Clark said.

When the friend invited her to stay and play some more, she agreed. Four hours later, she had cleaned up.

Morris angrily accused her of cheating, authorities said. But Clark said she had won fairly and demanded to be paid.

As Clark went to the freezer to get some ice, Morris went to a bedroom, got a gun and, without warning, shot Clark in the back, firing three more times into Clark's head and chest, her husband said.

Morris initially fled but later turned herself in to police, authorities said.

James Clark said his wife was a beautiful person who had lost one of her two sons to murder but had helped raise a dozen foster children and "would take homeless people in off the street and feed and cloth them."

He described her shooting as "cowardly."

Police discover Anacondas, alligators and spiders in house

anaconda

Police called to a house in Milwaukee were surprised to discover that it was filled with hundreds of reptiles including alligators and anacondas, as well as rodents, and spiders.

Police were originally called to the house to investigate a report of an alleged sexual assault, but upon arriving discovered the menagerie, both in the house and in a nearby building that doubled as a residence and a storage facility.

Among the animals discovered were at least five anacondas between 20 and 30 feet long, alligators, spiders and one chicken (who was presumably feeling rather nervous).

Some of the animals were in containers, while others were roaming freely.

Police needed the help of an animal control unit and staff from a nearby zoo to round up all the animals. A 50-year-old woman was arrested, and could face charges.

***********************************************************************************************************

I suspect people think that I am crazy when I mention escaped snakes and the problems that can occur. In Milwaukee, there is little chance that anacondas could breed in the wild but it could and likely will happen in the south. There are already reports of pythons who for one reason or another (either they escaped or they grew too large or dangerous to care for and were let loose by their owners) that are now growing wild. I foresee this same thing happening with anacondas. The issue for me is that anacondas are capable of growing to 30 feet in length and pose great danger to living creatures, especially man.
