JOKE: A Soldier Come Home

Photobucket
Leroy had been a soldier at war for more than three years, during which he had been in many battles and won many decorations. He was finally discharged from service and returned home to a wife and son whom he hadn't seen in almost four years.

As he was walking up the path to his house, his young son spotted him and yelled, "Mommy, Mommy, here comes Daddy, and he's got a purple heart on!"

To which the mother replied, "I don't give a damn what color it is! Let him in, and you go play at the Joneses' for a couple hours."

Norway bombing victim had foot-long spike in her head after bombing

A nervy Norwegian civil servant was back at work Friday - just a week after the terror bombing in Oslo lodged a foot-long wooden spike in her head and left her looking like a bleeding unicorn.

Line Nersnaes said she had a blinding headache as she fled the crumbling building immediately after the blast and didn't understand why until her boss, Knut Fosli, told her.

"He looked at me and said, 'You're got something sticking out of your head,'" she said. "I put my hand on my head and I felt a stick sticking straight out. I got so terrified when I realized that I had something in my head, but I was lucky to be alive."

The stick - a piece of a shattered wooden window frame - had pierced her chin and exited through the top of her forehead.

Remarkably, it missed her brain.

Nersnaes, 50, needed 27 stitches to close her wound and was sent home just hours after the carnage last Friday with her head tightly bandaged.

The government worker's amazing recover was a glimmer of good news on a day when the Norwegian government released more photos of the 76 people slaughtered by a Muslim-hating right wing extremist.

Anders Behring Breivik told cops he first set off the fertilizer bomb that demolished the government building where Nersnaes works and killed eight people before heading out of town to a summer camp where he slaughtered the others.

Breivik, 32, who fancied himself a defender of Christian values against what he perceived to be hordes of invading Islamic immigrants, was questioned again by Norwegian police on Friday.

While Breivik claimed in a 1,500 manifesto that he was in touch with other like-minded extremists, police believe he is a "lone wolf" who acted alone.

VIDEO: Caught on tape: Vegas cop beats videographer

A Las Vegas police officer is in hot water after being caught on tape beating a videographer outside of his home in March.
A police department review found that Officer Derek Colling violated police policies when he used "excessive force" on Mitchell Crooks, reports the Las Vegas Review Journal.

According to the newspaper, the incident occurred on the night of March 20, when the 36-year-old Crooks was in his driveway videotaping police as they investigated a burglary report across the street. Crooks said that when he refused to stop filming, Colling arrested and beat him, with much of the altercation recorded by the camera.

In the video, Crooks can be heard yelling in pain while Colling can be heard telling him to "shut up" and telling him his decision not to turn off the camera put him in "a world of hurt."

Colling has been on paid suspension since April 1 and could be fired pending the outcome of a review by the officer's supervisors, the newspaper reported.

Earlier this week, the Internal Affairs Bureau notified Crooks that Colling was found to have violated Las Vegas police policy - a development which pleased Crooks.

"It seems like they're saying he was guilty, which is what I've been saying," Crooks told the newspaper. "I really hope he gets fired."

In the meantime, Crooks' lawyer, David Otto, said he intends to sue Colling and the police department, the newspaper reported.

Inebriated dad slept in passenger seat while 8-year-old son drove on interstate

The Louisiana State Police said troopers arrested a Hattiesburg man after he let his 8-year-old son drive on Interstate 12 near Holden. State police said they received a call shortly after 6:30 a.m. on Saturday about a green Chevrolet pickup truck driving erratically on the interstate in Livingston Parish. The caller told police that a child appeared to be the driver of the pickup.

Troopers located and stopped the vehicle, and they said a boy was driving the truck while his father, Billy Joe Madden, 28, slept in the passenger seat. Police said that Madden's 4-year-old daughter was riding in the backseat.

After interviewing Madden, troopers said they found out that he was intoxicated, and he fell asleep while his son drove from Hattiesburg to Dallas. State police said they arrested Madden and charged him with two counts of child desertion, parent allowing a minor to drive, open container and two counts of no child restraint and no seat belt.

According to troopers, the two children were not injured, and they were turned over to Child Protective Services waiting for a family member to pick them up. Madden was booked into the Livingston Parish Jail, and his bond was set at $1,474.
