The largest sinkhole in the world is Xiaozhai Tiankeng in China - incredible, up to 662 meters/2000 feet deep pit with nearly vertical walls. This is one of the most impressive natural attractions on Earth.

Store sells marijuana-infused ice cream

A pot dispensary near Santa Cruz California is offering a fresh take on your basic banana split. Or you could look at it as a tasty way to smoke a doobie. For medical reasons only, of course.

It's marijuana-infused ice cream. And so far, the ice cream maker says his customers think it's totally dope.

Everybody who's tried it has said they absolutely love it. A lot of people come back for seconds, thirds and fourth," said Jonathan Kolodinski.

Some of the flavors offered include Banannabis Foster, Straw-Mari Cheesecake and triple Chocolate Brownie.

Finishing off a pint of this stuff is about equal to smoking eight joints, the owner says. It'll set you back $15 a pint, and only card-carrying marijuana patients can buy it.

JOKE: a man was at home watching TV and eating peanuts

Photobucket
One evening a man was at home watching TV and eating peanuts. He'd toss them in the air, then catch them in his mouth.
In the middle of catching one, his wife asked a question, and as he turned to answer her, a peanut landed inside his ear. He tried and tried to dig it out but succeeded in only pushing it in deeper. He called his wife for assistance, and after hours of trying they became worried and decided to go to the hospital.
As they were ready to go out the door, their daughter came home with her date. After being informed of the problem, their daughter's date said he could get the peanut out. The young man told the father to sit down, then proceeded to shove two fingers up the father's nose and told him to blow hard. When the father blew, the peanut flew out. The mother and daughter jumped and yelled for joy. The young man insisted that it was nothing and the daughter brought the young man out to the kitchen for something to eat.
Once he was gone the mother turned to the father and said, "that's so wonderful! Isn't he smart? What do you think he s going to be when he grows older?"
The father replied "from the smell of his fingers, our son in-law."

Someone Hates Barclays Bank

More than a 1,000 bicycles used in a London cycle hire scheme have had the F-word stuck on them.

The four-letter stickers have been placed above the Barclays bank logo on the bikes, in an apparent protest.

The defaced cycles have been spotted at docking stations across the city.

No one has claimed responsibility.

Lion and meerkat friendship echoes The Lion King

A lion who was rejected by its mother has stuck up a friendship with a meerkat. The pair have been inseparable since new-born lioness Zinzi was rescued by being taken into the home of zoo and safari ranch owner Marcell Tournier, 33. The friendship echoes the partnership between Simba, the lion cub hero of Disney classic The Lion King and Timon.

PhotobucketMr Tournier added: "Bob the meerkat seems to have a "Hakuna Matata" problem-free philosophy and taught Zinzi how to relax." Zinzi was brought in at just one day old when Marcell realised her mother was refusing to feed her a harsh reality of nature that could have meant the end of adorable Zinzi.

But almost as soon as the lion had moved in to the home, near Sun City, South Africa, Mr Tournier quickly realised he wasn't Zinzi's only fan. Lively two-year-old Bob instantly took a shine to his new playmate. Amazingly Bob began following his much bigger friend day and night and would even snuggle in at nap time.

Bob likes having anything cute and cuddly around," said Mr Tournier. "If it'll lie down and cuddle him he will love it. The pair quickly formed an unlikely friendship and were soon doing everything together. The pair live on the sprawling Predator World Zoo and Game Farm, which covers 1,000 hectares in the country's north-west.

Mad Cows and One Sore Bear

an email I received:
Hi everyone:
A couple of evenings ago, Wayne went out to check the cows and saw a very strange sight and was able to photograph the event. A black bear approached our cow herd which turned out to be a very big mistake on his part.
The blonde and white Simmental cow we know as I-12. She is a very good cow, a very attentive mother and about 12 years old. She's in her prime and knows that bears are bad news. She went right for him and tried her best to mash him into the ground. A younger cow, R-55, an Angus-Cross cow, age 7, is helping her out as best she can. It is an incredible photo to see two cows at once trying to crush the bear. There are a couple of photos where the bear is biting I-12's leg and clawing her face but she is not giving up. Her stiff tail shows how agitated she is. Wayne said all the cows were bawling, the bear was squealing, the calves were running around with their tails in the air. Finally, the bear decided to vacate the area. We thought he'd be dead for sure, but there was no sign of him the next day. We'll have to keep an eye out for eagles in the trees or flocks of ravens flying up. We're sure he's got some broken ribs out of the deal at the very least.
I looked up the calving records of both cows who are so aggressive in these photos and they are both good, calm cows around us and have given us no troubles whatsoever. I'll have to add in my notes that they have a very distinct dislike of bears.
We'll be watching I-12 over the next few days to see if she needs treatment for infection. I don't know how willingly she'll come to the corrals for treatment, but she might not have a choice.
Wayne couldn't believe his eyes when he witnessed this ruckus. This is another once-in-a-lifetime photography event to add to all the others he managed to document this summer. It is amazing.
