Students Engaged in Sex Act During Class

OXNARD, Calif. -- School district officials in Oxnard are investigating reports that two students engaged in a sex act during class and that other students watched and even took video and photos of the incident.

Investigators say the alleged sex act took place at Haydock Intermediate School on March 26th.

"A serious allegation has been made that there was a sexual encounter between two students," said Assistant Superintendent Sean Goldman.

The incident is said to have involved an 8th grade boy and a 7th grade girl during a reading class.

The reports come from parents who say that the two students engaged in oral sex in the back of the room while the rest of the class, 25 to 30 students, watched a film. They say there was a video made of the alleged incident and other students knew what was going on.

Parent, Silvia Ramirez, tells KTLA she saw the video and is outraged. She says the teacher knew what was going on but did nothing. Ramirez says that teacher should be fired.

The district, however, says it cannot confirm that any sexual encounter occurred in the classroom, Goldman said. Officials are investigating to find out what did happen and whether there was any wrongdoing. Goldman said details are not being released to protect student and employee privacy.

The teacher, who has not been identified, has been placed on paid administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation, according to the district. District officials say they are not sure if the teacher knew what was going on and didn't report it or just was unaware of what was happening.

The allegations came to light after a parent filed a complaint about a bullying issue, Goldman said. School administrators were investigating that matter when someone tipped them off about the alleged sexual encounter, he said.

The investigation is expected to conclude within a week, and officials said they plan to release their findings to the parents of the students involved.

Family of four die as giant sink hole swallows their house

The bodies of four members of a family who went missing after their house was swallowed by a gaping sink hole north-east of Montreal have been found, authorities said today.

The Prefontaine family was in their basement cheering on ice hockey team the Montreal Canadiens in their Stanley Cup play-off game against the Pittsburgh Penguins when the massive landslide struck on Monday night in the village of Saint-Jude.
Michael Dore, Quebec's emergency management co-ordinator, said: 'After digging and going through the rubble we found the four victims.

'They were found very close to one another, some of them lying on the couch in the family room in the basement.'

The first body found belonged to father Richard Prefontaine. The others were his wife Lynne Charbonneau and daughters Anais, nine, and Amelie, believed to be 11.

The landslide tore a hole more than four times the size of a football field into Saint-Jude, a verdant village near Montreal.

Sink holes can occur when water undermines an area of land or when rock below the land surface shifts.

This particular sink hole ate up three cars, one stretch of a concrete road and most of the house that once sat by a cliff over a tributary of the Yamaska River. The landslide pulled down that cliff.

Rescue workers struggled for almost a full day - at times digging with their hands - to enter a home that was mostly buried in mud with only its green roof left peeking out.
Fire department spokesman Francois Gregoire said: 'It's a pretty gigantic crater. It's hard imagining something like this. It's pretty impressive.'
The family's lush green yard was transformed into an undulating mess of tangled trees, grass and clay blocks.

Mayor Yves de Bellefeuille said the incident had the small village in shock, especially since the home is not in an area considered to be especially at risk.

The St. Lawrence and Ottawa valleys are laden with clay deposited in low coastal areas during the last Ice Age.

The clay is very sensitive and, if disturbed, it can lose its physical strength and liquefy, causing its slope to collapse and the land to slide.

Natural Resources Canada said clay earth-flows have caused 100 deaths in modern times, including the destruction of two Quebec towns - Notre-Dame-de-la-Salette in 1908 and St-Jean-Vianney in 1971.

**INJURED DURING SEX**

The results of a survey done in England indicates that nearly 1/3 of all Brits have injured themselves within the last year while in the throes of passion.

Pulled muscles are the most common complaint, followed by back injuries, carpet burns, cricked neck and bent back fingers.

Five per cent of the adult population have had to take time off work due to sex-related injuries.

Two per cent have even suffered broken bones because things got so heated.
Researchers found around one third of Britons have suffered an ache or strain either before, during or after sex.

Almost half said they only realised their injury the following morning because they were so overcome with passion at the time they were hurt.
Given some of the favored locations for lovemaking, the injuries shouldn't come as a surprise.

The survey of 1,000 adults found many having sex on the stairs, in the car, over the kitchen table and in the office cupboard.

Even the sofa was found to be risky because of its close proximity to glasses, plates and other breakable items. Such sex can also hit you hard in the pocket.
The study found almost four in ten had broken something during sex - with the average cost of damage about $225.

Bed frames, wine or pint glasses and picture frames were the most regular casualties.

Accidentally smashing a hole in a wall also featured as did breaking chests of drawers or doors. Ten per cent of people said they or their partner had fallen off the bed during sex and one in 50 said they had fallen off a washing machine.

A spokesman for phone recycling business Phonepiggybank.com, which commissioned the poll, said: 'Sex is a risky business these days.
'There are numerous hazards in and around the home which can inflict severe injuries if people aren't careful.
'We were amazed to find out that even the bedroom can prove a hazardous location for certain people.
'Our advice would be to remove any dangerous objects well before you plan to start making love and take care while in the act.'
