World's Smartest Animal? Smarter than You? Meet University Educated Chimp Ayumu

Ayumu the chimp can remember the location and order of a set of numbers in less time than it takes the average human to blink. Ayumu can solve the puzzle in 60 milliseconds.
The 11-year-old chimp genius was born at the Kyoto University’s Primate Research Institute where he studied as part of the Ai Project, which aims to better understand the chimpanzee mind.
He made headlines in 2007 when he out-performed college students in intelligence tests. You can try to beat him yourself in a game called ‘Are you smarter than a chimp?’.
Ayumu stars in the first episode of the new BBC series Super Smart Animals.

OMG: Woman tweets her way across Antarctica, solo

Felicity Aston is an English freelance travel writer who recently became the first woman to ski across Antarctica by herself. The 33-year-old was a part of the first all-female team to complete a nearly 600-kilometre race across the Canadian Arctic, and two years ago she was a part of a team of six-woman team that crossed the Antarctic.

This time she posted about her expedition day-by-day on Twitter and also did phonecasts, offering people small glimpses of what it’s like to cross the Antarctic alone – from coping with solitude to coping with the environment, where a mistake such as losing a glove can be disastrous. The following are a selection of tweets from her journey, from the time she started off from the Ross Ice Shelf on November 25 to her arrival at Hercules Inlet on the Ronne Ice Shelf, 1744 kilometres and 59 days later.

Tough, windy, uphill day cut short by a frightening storm. Took me 2.5 hours to put up my tent.

Tried to do some laundry in the tent this evening. Didn't go well. I now have frozen knickers.

The twists in my route to avoid potential crevasse areas have added 45nm to my journey -that's 3 extra days skiing

I was hoping the weather might improve so that I could at least do half a day - no chance. I'm now 5 days behind.

Now that I am heading north, I ski toward the sun all day - which is lovely but I do miss the company of my shadow
27 Dec 11
felicity_aston@felicity_aston
Completely silent morning, which means no wind, and the sun is warming the tent - it's going to be a good day.

The nail on my second toe from the right has fallen off for no reason I can see except weak will.

Stomping through fresh snow has aggravated my grumbling knees. I keep pleading with them to hold it together for just one more week...

After 1744km and 59 days I arrived at Hercules Inlet on the Ronne Ice Shelf and completed my crossing of Antarctica.

My non-expedition clothes are revealing just how much I've changed - feels like I've found someone twice my size and stolen their jeans

Photo: Drive-through funeral parlor..saying goodbye the modern way

It sounds heartless. It looks odd. Cars enter a drive-through, stopping briefly next to the glass wall behind which is an open casket, then drive off. Adams Funeral Home in Los Angeles is the only service in California where you can pay your respect to the deceased on wheels. Disrespectful?

The office manager Denise Knowles-Bragg with the says it’s all about convenience. She points out the parlor is good for the elderly, who find it difficult to walk, or for those who want to make a quick stop and pay their respect during lunch hour. It’s also convenient for funerals with many visitors.

JOKE: Leave me alone bitch, I'm married

Mike wakes up with a huge hangover after attending his company's party. Mike is not normally a drinker, but the drinks didn't taste like alcohol at all. He doesn't even remember how he got home from the party.

As bad as he is feeling, he wonders if he did something wrong. Mike forces himself to open his eyes, and the first thing he sees is a couple of aspirins next to a glass of water on the side table. And, next to them, there is a single red rose!! Mike sits up and sees his clothing in front of him, all clean and pressed.
He looks around the room and sees that it is in perfect order, spotlessly clean. So is the rest of the house.

He takes the aspirins, cringes when he sees a huge black eye staring back at him in the bathroom mirror. Then he notices a note hanging on the corner of the mirror written in red with little hearts on it and a kiss mark from his wife in lipstick:

'Honey, breakfast is on the stove. I left early to get groceries to make you your favorite dinner tonight.

I love you, darling!
Love, your wife'

He stumbles to the kitchen and sure enough, there is hot breakfast, steaming hot coffee and the morning newspaper. His 16 year old son is also at the table, eating.

Mike asks, 'Son, what happened last night?'

'Well, you came home after 3 A.M., drunk and out of your mind. You fell over the coffee table and broke it, and then you puked in the hallway, and got that black eye when you ran into the door.' Confused, he asks his son, 'So, why is everything in such perfect order and so clean?I have a rose, and breakfast is on the table waiting for me??'

His son replies,
'Oh THAT... Mom dragged you to the bedroom, and when she tried to take your pants off, you screamed, 'Leave me alone bitch, I'm married!!'

Broken Coffee Table $239.99
Hot Breakfast $4.20
Two Aspirins $.38
Saying the right thing, at the right time:
