A 23-year-old student has reportedly overcome her fear of bananas after undergoing hypnotherapy and neuro-linguistic programming.

Paula Ross, of Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, England claimed to be afraid of the fruit since she was force-fed them as a toddler.

Ross said: "It is a ridiculous fear, but it is something I have had since I can remember.

"People used to chase me round the playground at school with banana peels, and everyone used to laugh at me. They thought it was hilarious."

Ross, who admitted that the smell of a banana would make her nauseous, eventually saw a therapist, who trained her to replace bad memories she had of bananas with more positive ones.

"I couldn't even stand to be in the same room as a banana but this therapy has changed my life," she continued. "It is absolutely fantastic.

"I can go for lunch with my friends and I don't have to worry about being around if they have a banana. I am forever grateful."

Ross's therapist recalled: "I took her mind back to a time when she didn't have the phobia and taught her to associate those calm, happy feelings with bananas.

"I have never done anything like that before so it was fun to go through with her and I am glad she is doing so well."

JOKE: A Canadian is drinking in a New York bar..

...when he gets a call on his cell phone. He hangs up, grinning from ear to ear, and orders a round of drinks for everybody in the bar because, he announces, his wife has just produced a typical Canadian baby boy weighing 25 pounds.

Nobody can believe that any new baby can weigh in at 25 pounds, but the Canuck just shrugs, "That's about average up North, folks...like I said, my boy's a typical Canadian baby boy." Congratulations showered him from all around, and many exclamations of "WOW"! were heard. One woman actually fainted due to sympathy pains.

Two weeks later the Canadian returns to the bar. The bartender says, "Say, you're the father of that typical Canadian baby that weighed 25 pounds at birth, aren't you? Everybody's been making' bets about how big he'd be in two weeks. We were gonna call you....... so how much does he weigh now?"

The proud father answers, "Seventeen pounds." The bartender is puzzled, and concerned.

"What happened? He already weighed 25 pounds the day he was born." The Canadian father takes a slow swig from his Molson beer, wipes his lips on his shirt sleeve, leans into the bartender and proudly says,

"Had him circumcised".

Biker Protesting Helmet Laws Dies of Head Injuries from Crash

Photobucket

Philip A. Contos of Parish, N.Y., died in a motorcycle crash on Saturday after losing control of his bike and going head-first over the handlebars. He was "participating in a motorcycle helmet protest ride."

Contos was riding with American Bikers Aimed Towards Education, a motorcycle lobbying group that disagrees with mandatory helmet laws, on Route 11 near Syracuse, when he fishtailed and crashed. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

Evidence indicates that Contos "would have survived if he had been wearing a Department of Transportation approved helmet," cops say.
