A Nevada Highway Patrol trooper who pulled over an erratic driver in Reno Monday night found about 100 marijuana plants and 5 pounds of packaged marijuana.
At around 8:10 p.m., the trooper noticed a black 2007 Dodge Caravan weaving in and out of a lane on westbound Interstate 80 near Keystone Avenue, NHP spokesman Matt Kaplan said. The trooper pulled the van over and allegedly spotted several marijuana plants in the back of the van partially covered with a blanket.
The van's driver, Arthur Griffo, 61, of Oakland, Calif., told the trooper that he had 85 plants, Kaplan said. Troopers eventually found 95 plants, along with 5 pounds of packaged marijuana buds and drug paraphernalia including pipes, lights and scales.
Griffo remains in the Washoe County Jail on charges of failing to maintain a single travel lane, possession of marijuana with intent to sale, possession of more than one ounce of marijuana and illegally engaging in interstate commerce.
