2-year-old son tells St. Petersburg police where to find his wanted dad

A man wanted for violating probation was caught after his 2-year-old son told police he was hiding in the attic, an arrest report shows.

St. Petersburg, Florida police came to 770 62nd Ave. N Saturday afternoon looking for Valdet Gjeloshi, 29, who was wanted for violating probation on a battery charge. Megan Merschen, the mother of his child, told officers Gjeloshi wasn't there but gave several other locations he might be found, according to the report.

But then the boy spontaneously announced his father was in the attic, the report shows. Merschen then admitted Gjeloshi was in the home.

Gjeloshi was arrested on charges of violation of probation charge and resisting an officer without violence. Merschen, 25, faces an obstruction charge.

Ismet Gjeloshi said his son was not hiding when police came. Ismet, 62, answered his son's phone Sunday and said the violation resulted from a miscommunication about a court date.
