Teacher Stabs Another With Screwdriver At New York High School

A Poughkeepsie High School teacher was hospitalized Thursday morning, while another teacher - who is accused of stabbing her - was in police custody,

According to reports, the two teachers, identified as Cynthia Glozier and Ronette Ricketts, became involved in a verbal dispute which escalated and resulted in the stabbing of Glozier.

Authorities tell the Poughkeepsie Journal, Ricketts stabbed Glozier with a Philips screwdriver.

The incident happened sometime before 10 a.m. and prompted school officials to place the school on lock down while they investigated. The lock down lasted until 11:15 a.m.

It wasn't immediately clear what sparked the dispute between the women, who both work as full-time English teachers at the school.

Glozier, 52, is reportedly listed in good condition at St. Francis Hospital, while Ricketts, 40, was being questioned by authorities Thursday afternoon.

No students were involved in the incident. School officials say classes will continue as scheduled.
