Parents take out ad in paper for teen's punishment of breaking curfew

Photobucket

When 16-year-old Kirstin Rausch broke her curfew, she knew there would be consequences.

But she didn't expect an ad with her picture in the Southlake Texas Journal, offering her free service as a baby sitter to make amends.

Rausch's parents are requiring her to complete 30 hours of free baby-sitting for breaking a cardinal family rule.

"I was embarrassed," she said, after seeing the ad. "I had no idea they had done that."

Rausch, a member of the National Honor Society at Carroll Senior High School, doesn't break many rules. But a few weeks ago, she had a group of friends over late at night, after her family went to sleep. When she got caught, she knew she was in big trouble.

The ad, made to sound as if Rausch had written it herself, states that "my pain is your gain" and implores parents needing a sitter to call to reserve a spot.

Wendy Rausch, Kirstin's stepmother, said the ad was Plan B after a request to different organizations for a 30-hour community service project went unfilled.

"We wanted her to make it up with community service," Wendy Rausch said. "My husband got the idea from a situation he encountered at work that people like free labor."

To prevent a dangerous situation for Kirstin, the Rausches are screening requests from callers. By last weekend, she had already completed nearly half of the 30 hours.

Kirstin Rausch said she hasn't minded the baby-sitting duties, particularly since she has lucked into dealing with kids aged 6 to 10 rather than babies and toddlers.

Joanne Reding, a neighbor of the Rausch family, said having a baby sitter allowed her to attend a weekend meeting that she probably would have had to miss. Her 15-year-old son, who normally watches his 11-year-old brother, was away over the weekend.

"I think this is a great idea," Reding said. "What she did was very serious, and I admire her parents for calling her on it."

JOKE: WEDDING NIGHT SPOOF

wedding rings

The wedding date was set and the groom's three pals - a carpenter, an electrician, and a dentist were deciding what pranks to play on the couple on their wedding night.

The carpenter figured sawing the slats of their bed would give them a chuckle or two.

The electrician decided to wire the bed - with alternating current, of course.

The dentist wouldn't commit himself, but wore a sly grin and promised a real dozy.

The nuptials went as planned and a few days later, each of the grooms buddies received the following note:

DEAR FRIENDS,

"We didn't mind the bed slats being sawed. The electric shock was only a minor setback, but I'M GOING TO KILL THE BASTARD WHO PUT NOVOCAINE IN THE VASELINE!!!"

This Year's Fastest Trip Up Pike's Peak

I will freely admit that I am infatuated with this event. For sheer thrills and terror, nothing comes close. The very idea of hurtling up a 14,000 foot mountain sideways with 1000+ foot drop-offs at nearly every turn really gets the adrenaline pumping. The king of the hill in recent years is Nobuhiro "Monster" Tajima. His fastest time is 10:01:41 to cover the 12.2 mile course, reaching speeds of nearly 150 miles per hour in a 1000 horsepower twin turbo charged all wheel drive specially built Suzuki.
First a bit of history and info and then Tajima's 2010 effort and then video called Climb Dance.
The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC), also known as The Race to the Clouds, is an annual automobile and motorcycle hillclimb to the summit of Pikes Peak in Colorado, a distance of 19.99 km (12.42 miles) over 156 turns, climbing 1,439 meters (4,721 ft) from the start at Mile 7 on Pikes Peak Highway at 2,862 meters (9,390 ft) on grades averaging 7% over both gravel and paved sections.
It has taken place since 1916 and is currently contested by a variety of classes of Cars, Trucks, Motorcycles and Quads. There are often numerous new classes tried and discarded year-to-year.
On average there are 150 competitors. The oldest current class is the Open Wheel division which has been run since 1916 and has been won by such names as Mario Andretti, Al Unser, Bobby Unser, and Robby Unser (the current class record holder, achieving 10:05.85 min in 1994).
In 1989, an award-winning short film about the 1988 event was released by French director Jean-Louis Mourey. The film, titled Climb Dance, captured the efforts of Finnish former World Rally Champion Ari Vatanen, as he won the event in a record-breaking time with his turbocharged Peugeot 405 T16.

Woman Tagged UK's Nastiest..Sex Act/Peeing On War Memorial

A woman caught on CCTV urinating on a war memorial before performing a sex act was forced to walk through a "guard of dishonor" as she arrived at court for sentencing.

Wendy Lewis - dubbed "Britain's most disgusting person" - turned up at Blackpool magistrates' court 40 minutes late and covered her face as she spotted a media scrum waiting for her.

War veterans, proudly sporting berets and polished medals on their blazers, lined the court steps to form the "guard of dishonour".

They clapped and shouted "Disgusting!" as she entered the building, to which Lewis replied: "F*** off!"

Lewis then disappeared from court, telling probation officers she had a "problem at home", and after six hours a warrant was issued for her arrest.

If she is found by police, she will spend the weekend in the cells until court resumes on Monday morning.

The 32-year-old admitted outraging public decency at an earlier hearing and is expected to be given a community service order as punishment.

She was caught on CCTV drunkenly urinating on the town centre memorial.

When police arrived they found her performing a sex act on a man sitting on the memorial.

Ian Coleman, president of the Royal British Legion Association, called her the "most disgusting person in this country" and said she should be jailed for her actions.

One of the war heroes waiting for her, former Royal Marine James Baker, 88, said: "This female, I nearly called her a lady, has disgraced her sex.

"It is unforgivable what she did in the face of these dead men."

Don Aiken, 85, who was also on the beaches on D-Day, said: "We have all come today to show our disgust at the actions of this woman on the cenotaph.

"It is sacred to ex-servicemen personally, because it holds the names of so many of our comrades who died in two world wars to defend the freedom of our nation."

Mr Aiken was present in court at the last hearing when the 30-minute CCTV recording was shown.

Goat chases baaaaad builders from third floor flat

Police suspected German builders were acting the goat when they complained an angry billy goat had chased them out of a third floor flat.

But when they turned up to investigate they found a fully grown male goat had indeed moved into the apartment in Offenburg, Baden-Wrttemberg.

The goat had been making a meal of the curtains that had been left behind while renovation work was carried out.

A police spokesman said: "We have no idea how that goat got up onto the third floor and entered the apartment. We also don't know who owns it - we have had no reports of a missing goat."

Police called in a local farmer who helped to capture the goat and has taken it to his farm while they attempt to find the real owner.

New Chinese benches are a pain in the butt LOL

Park officials in China have found a way to stop people from hogging their benches for too long - by fitting steel spikes on a coin-operated timer.

If visitors at the Yantai Park in Shangdong province, eastern China, linger too long without feeding the meter, dozens of sharp spikes shoot through the seat.

The spikes are too short to cause any serious harm - but long enough to prevent people from sitting on them comfortably.

Park bosses got the idea from an art installation in Germany where sculptor Fabian Brunsing created a similar bench as a protest against the commercialisation of modern life.

"He thought he was exaggerating. He didn't foresee that a very practical country like China might actually use them for real," said one critic.

Parks in China suffer from chronic overcrowding at weekends when millions of people try to escape the country's teeming cities.

"We have to make sure the facilities are shared out evenly and this seems like a fair way to stop people grabbing a bench at dawn and staying there all day," said one park official.

Dogs Can't Swiffer; Here's Proof

10-year-old accused of armed robbery will remain in custody

wt?

The 10-year-old Seattle boy who who police say shot himself in the arm Tuesday night during a botched robbery aboard a bus was ordered held in custody Thursday during a detention hearing in King County Juvenile Court.

The boy will remain in custody at least until his next hearing, scheduled for Tuesday. The boy's mother, Monisha Ford, cried when the court commissioner made her ruling; she had hoped he would be allowed to go home. The Times is not naming the boy because he is being prosecuted as a juvenile.

The boy, who is 4-feet-1, appeared in juvenile court with his right arm in a sling.

According to police, the 10-year-old was with a group of other juveniles when they tried to rob a 17-year-old boy on Metro's Route 7 bus. The 10-year-old ordered the older boy to empty his pockets while the other boys, ages 12, 14 and 15 surrounded the 17-year-old, police said.

The 17-year-old later told police he saw the 10-year-old unzip a backpack and reach inside. The older boy was afraid the younger boy was reaching for a gun so he grabbed him in a bear hug. During the struggle a gunshot went off inside the backpack, wounding the younger boy, police said.

The older boy feared the other boys would reach for the gun so he grabbed the backpack and ran out of the bus, police said. He was assaulted by the other boys after he left the bus, police said.

Police later found a .22-caliber semi-automatic handgun in the backpack.

Seattle police say this isn't the first time they've encountered the 10-year-old. They say he has a history of assault and robbing people with a pellet gun.
