A furious father pulled his son out of a cyber cafe by his hair, stripped him naked and dragged him home by his feet after the game-addicted teenager disobeyed a computer ban. Lu Tan, 39, said he had warned son Xiaomeng, 14, dozens of times not to play computer games, adding: 'I threw the computer in the bin because he spent all his time in his room doing no work - but then when I came home from work I found he had gone to the internet cafe.'

He stormed into the cafe at Hechi city, in Guagnxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, in southern China and dragged his son out in front of his friends. One eyewitness said: 'He began to beat the boy, who was calling for mercy, but he said he wanted to show everyone how worthless the boy was and dragged him home after stripping him and tying up his hands.

'Someone called the police but they did not intervene - the man said the boy had stolen money to go net surfing.' Tan told police: 'Xiaomeng's mother passed away when he was only 9 months old. I have brought him up. I worked hard to support the family. 'My hope of my son is not great but I want him to live in the real world, to be a real person. I have told him surfing the web is a bad thing many times but he never listened. I beat him because I don't want him to be ruined by the web.'

JOKE: A widower and a widow each lived alone in a Florida mobile home park

A widower and a widow each lived alone in a Florida mobile home park for several years. One evening, at a community supper in the activity center, the two sat across from each other. As the meal ended, he finally gathered up his courage and asked, "Will you marry me?" After about a second of careful consideration, she answered, "Yes. Yes, I will!" The meal ended with a few pleasant exchanges and they went home to their respective trailers. The next morning, he was worried. Did she say "Yes" or "No?" He couldn't remember. So he telephoned her and explained that he didn't remember as well as he once did. Then he said how much he enjoyed their evening together. Finally, he asked, "When I asked you to marry me, did you say 'Yes' or did you say 'No'?" He was delighted when she replied, "I said 'Yes' and I meant it with all my heart." Then she paused before adding, "I'm glad you called because for the life of me I couldn't remember who asked me!"

Japanese lab invents Internet kissing machine

Photobucket

A Japanese lab has created a device that may let let you "French kiss" someone over the Internet.

And by "kiss," we mean waggle your tongue on a plastic straw, thereby making another plastic straw waggle remotely on someone else's tongue.

Hot, huh?

Well, the folks at Tokyo's Kajimoto Laboratory say it's just the beginning of what could become a full-on person-to-person experience over the Internet.

The lab, part of The University of Electro-Communications, posted a video in which a researcher demonstrates the "Kiss Transmission Device." It's a motorized box that looks a little like a police Breathalyzer.

In the video, Nobuhiro Takahashi, a graduate student and researcher at the university, manipulates the plastic tube on one device with his tongue. A program stores the movements on a computer and then transmits them to another device, causing its tube to move -- presumably in someone else's mouth.

The idea is to help lovers -- in long-distance relationships, say -- by transmitting the tactile sensation of kissing from one person to another. The lab is running both devices on the same computer, but says a system could be set up to connect them via the Web.

"Kiss information" can be recorded and replayed, presumably meaning someone could save and share a "kiss" over and over.

"For example, if you have a popular entertainer use this device and record it, that could be hugely popular if you offer it to fans," Takahashi says. (Can you say, "Justin Bieber"?)
The researchers seem to realize that most people might not exactly find licking a plastic tube a suitable replacement for sucking face. But there are refinements on the way, they say.

"The elements of a kiss include the sense of taste, the manner of breathing and the moistness of the tongue," Takahashi said. "If we can re-create all of those, I think it will be a really powerful device."

Chinese teenager has carried friend to school on his back for eight years

In Hebei, China, 16-year-old Lui Shi Ching has carried his friend to school daily for the last 8 years. His friend Lu Shao has a congenital disorder which makes it difficult for him to walk.

Eight years ago on a rainy day, Lu Shao was stuck at school when his mother didn't come to pick him up. Lui Shi Ching, who was smaller than Lu Shao, decided to help and carried him home.

Since then, he has carried Lu Shao to and from school and even to restrooms. Lui Shi Ching said: "How did I carry him when he's so heavy? I was happy helping him out and it's been 8 years already."

Lui Shi Ching didn't brag about his good deeds too much; his parents didn't even find out until 4 years after he first helped out his friend. Lu Shao mentioned in his diary that Lui Shi Ching's help has lifted a dark cloud in his life and let sunshine into it.
