WELLSVILLE, Pa. -- It's a crime with high bale.
Police in York County are trying to find out who took more than 200 bales of hay from a farm early this month.
State Police said someone broke into a barn in Wellsville on Jan. 3 and took about 245 bales of hay. The barn's owner does not live on the property.
Trooper Matthew Pavone said rather balefully that the hay is worth in excess of $1,000, and that ain't hay..
During a private "fly-in" fishing excursion in the Alaskan wilderness,
the chartered pilot and fishermen left a cooler and bait in the plane.

A 42-year-old Fond du Lac man was cited Jan. 13 for "rocking out" to John Denver.
At 3:11 a.m., police were called to Calumet Apartments, 68 Harrison Place, for a loud noise complaint, according to a Fond du Lac Police Department report.
Officer Ryan Williams pounded on the man's third-floor door and recognized the songs of the late singer John Denver.
The man did not answer the door until the officer learned his name from a neighbor and called for him to answer, according to the report.
Williams asked why the music was so loud. The man responded he was "rocking out."
The man was cited for unnecessary loud noise. The ticket could result in a $208.50 fine.
Controversial radio DJ Steve Penk has come under fire from mental health groups after playing the Van Halen song Jump on the radio as police dealt with a suicide attempt. Four lanes of the M60 motorway were closed while the police tried to talk the woman down from a bridge.
A frustrated listener, stuck in the traffic backlog, called in to Penk's The Revolution breakfast show to request the song. The DJ duly obliged the request, saying he sympathised with the motorist's frustration. Moments later, the 30-year-old woman jumped from the bridge.
While she only sustained minor injuries, mental health charities branded the DJ's behavior irresponsible and insensitive.
"It shows a lack of compassion and understanding," said a rep from The Samaritans, while Paul Farmer of Mind said it was 'in very poor taste'
Penk, however, was unmoved by the criticisms. "The entire area had been thrown into total chaos by a single troubled woman," he responded. "I was very sorry to hear that the lady had subsequently jumped from the bridge, but relieved that her injuries were minor."
"If, as has been suggested, the woman jumped because she heard it from a passing car radio, that's unfortunate, but I don't regret playing it for a minute."
An advertisement for an airline competition that portrays older, single women as "cougars" who prey on young men at night has incurred the wrath of both male and female rape victims in New Zealand.
"Cougar" has become a popular term for sexually aggressive older women on the hunt for younger men. But the term can be viewed either as misogynistic or a word of empowerment.
An online spoof documentary by Air New Zealand, promoting a competition for free tickets to a rugby tournament, tells of a so-called cougar starving herself during the day then "hunting large slabs of meat at night" by stalking young men at a bar.
The voiceover says despite men's attempts to ward off the woman's advances, the cougar has "not tasted fresh meat for days" and drags her victims to her inner-city apartment, often forcing them to listen to "Enya or the Eurythmics."
New Zealand's Rape Prevention Education has labelled the ad appalling, disgusting and degrading to women, adding that some Air New Zealand staff were also concerned about the promotion. "They find it degrading and that it is encouraging potentially harmful behaviour, so my question is why is our national carrier promoting sexually predatory behaviour?" director Kim McGregor said.
"We have also had complaints from male survivors who have been raped by women and they are very distressed that their situation is being laughed at and made out to be humorous," she said.

The owner of a suburban massage parlor who allegedly had some female employees get tattoos with his birth date was arrested Wednesday on charges he extorted thousands of dollars from one worker.
Alex "Daddy" Campbell, of Glenview, will remain in custody until a detention hearing Friday. The criminal complaint charged that he forced the employee to pay $16,000 to avoid working seven days a week. The woman, a foreign national, paid him an additional $13,000 to ostensibly assist her with her Immigration status, authorities said.
Campbell, who owns the Day and Night Spa in Mount Prospect, also forced the employee to engage in sex with him and threatened to publicize video he took of her having sex with another woman, authorities said.
Many of the women working at the massage parlor were given horseshoe tattoos on their necks, and some had the number "917" tattooed on them in reference to Campbell's Sept. 17 birthday, according to the charges.
The complaint also alleged that Campbell, in his mid-40s, admitted being a pimp as Chicago police gave him his Miranda rights during an earlier investigation of prostitution. "You all hating on my pimp game," he was quoted as saying. "My lawyer gonna get you good for (expletive) with me and my hos."
Danielle "Princess" John, 23, a Campbell employee, was also charged in the extortion of the parlor employee.
The victim eventually sought help from U.S. Immigration agents and secretly taped talks with Campbell and John, officials said. Agents allegedly gave the victim cash and watched as she passed it to John. Lawyers for the two could not be reached for comment.
At school Little Johnny was told by a classmate that most adults are hiding at least one dark secret, and that this makes it very easy to blackmail them by saying, "I know the whole truth."
Little Johnny decides to go home and try it out. He goes home, and as he is greeted by his mother he says, "I know the whole truth."

Quite pleased, the boy waits for his father to get home from work, and greets him with, "I know the whole truth."
The father promptly hands him $40 and says, "Please don't say a word to your mother."
Very pleased, the boy is on his way to school the next day when he sees the mailman at his front door. The boy greets him by saying, "I know the whole truth."
The mailman immediately drops the mail, opens his arms, and says, "Then come give your real father a big hug."
A woman left her 3-month-old baby in her car for more than an hour while she met with a man for sex, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
Latosha Yeadon, 30, was charged with a variety of child abuse and child neglect charges after she met a man at Plantation Palm Apartments, 1903 Plantation Palms Drive. Investigators say she had met the man on the Internet and was meeting him for prostitution. Yeadon also was charged with prostitution.
Deputies were called to the complex after a maintenance worker saw the baby girl under some blankets in Yeadon's vehicle. The window had been lowered about an inch, investigators said.
Deputies said the baby had been in the vehicle for more than an hour before being discovered. Yeadon was arrested when she returned to the vehicle.
The child was taken to Brandon Hospital, where she is listed in stable condition.
