A four-year-old boy had a miracle escape after he fell 80ft from a hotel balcony - and escaped with minor injuries after bouncing off a palm tree.
Rescuers found Joey Williams alive after he skimmed off the branches of a cluster of palm trees and landed in a soil border next to the hotel's swimming pool.
The lucky toddler also managed to miss two metal pipes jutting up on either side of the spot where he hit the ground.
Less than four hours after his death-defying fall from the 17th floor of an apartment block in Miami, Florida, he was sitting up in bed eating French fries and drinking a milk shake.
A precautionary neck brace and a bandage on his right hand were all he had to show for his incredible ordeal.
Lt. Ignatius Carroll, a spokesman for Miami Fire Rescue, said he was astonished the boy had survived the fall.
'It's amazing that he's alive,' he said. 'He looked to be in pretty good shape. We thought he might have internal injuries. But he's fine.'
Joey was with his parents and grandparents at the Doubletree hotel in Miami when the incident occurred on Saturday.
His grandfather Jerry Unawich said the youngster had been playing with a balloon when it drifted out on to the balcony.
He had chased after it and managed to climb over a guardrail as he tried to grab it.
He fell from the 17th floor of the building to the 10th - where there is a pool area for local residents.
Mr Unawich added: "there are no broken bones and doctors told us everything is fine. No bleeding internally. We were truly blessed that God was there with him."
