A video released today by the Blackman-Leoni Township Public Safety Department shows Friday's dramatic chase ending in a crash near the Ohio border.
Ryan Elliott Cunningham, 34, was arraigned today on seven felony charges connected to the chase. He is accused of escaping from police custody, stealing a patrol vehicle and leading officers on a high-speed, multi-county chase that ended when he crashed near the Ohio border.
The video is from the in-car camera of the stolen Blackman-Leoni Township Public Safety Department Chevy Tahoe. It shows the SUV speeding away from the Colonial Inn Motel in Leoni Township with officers chasing on foot.
Ryan Elliott Cunningham was arraigned Tuesday afternoon on seven felonies, including two methamphetamine-related charges, three firearm charges, auto theft and fleeing a police officer.On the highway, the SUV weaves through traffic, uses both shoulders and perhaps side-swipes a guardrail. On U.S. 23, the SUV splits traffic stopped by police, drives down the center line, bounces off vehicles and crashes.
During the crash, the camera changes angles and shows the driver sitting in his underwear.
